Weekly Acting Class

geared towards beginners and advanced students (Grades K5-8)

Weekly Acting Classes help students to explore their imaginations in ways they never have before! The Charleston Stage Professional Resident Acting Company leads students through various theatre activities to help students learn how to create characters, about the elements of plot, and how to use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to share a story. Weekly Acting Classes meet once a week for 10 weeks and conclude with a mini performance for friends and family on the last day of class.

No Prior Acting Experience Necessary.

HIGH school master acting class

Designed for highly motivated high school students who haVE a real interest in exploring the craft of acting. Charleston Stage’s new High School Master Acting Class, offers a unique opportunity for dynamic training and feedback by Charleston Stage’s Master Directors, Teachers and actors.

Taught by Producing Artistic Director Julian Wiles, Associate Artistic Director Marybeth Clark and Director of Music Education Amanda Wansa, with assistance from members of Charleston Stage’s Professional Resident Acting Company, the High School Master Acting Class focuses on scene study, drawn from plays and musicals in Charleston Stage’s 2009-10 Season. Each week students will have the opportunity to prepare and present scenes from such classics as Evita, Twelfth Night and Blithe Spirit. In addition to scene analysis, key skills in voice, movement, text analysis, style and directing will be explored.

Because this class is designed for highly motivated students, participants must commit to ALL 12 classes each semester and pledge to be fully prepared for each class. Students may sign up for one or both semesters.
