Dear Patrons,

We greatly appreciate your support and enthusiasm for our spring productions. We are deeply disappointed by the current events that have required cancellations, and that we will not have the opportunity to perform for you at this time.

The months ahead will indeed be challenging times for many of us, including for Charleston Stage. Rest assured, "the show will go on" at a later time, but we will need your support to ensure that. We are asking you to consider converting the cost of your ticket purchase into a tax-deductible donation to help us weather the financial challenges we will face. You will also have the option of exchanging your ticket for a voucher good for any future performance.

Unfortunately, given the immense consequences of having to cancel 39 performances, we are unable to provide refunds for canceled tickets. Ticket revenue has already been spent on the sets, costumes, props and labor to construct and produce the shows that are now canceled. There are no remaining funds that can be used for refunds. We are a financially responsible organization, and have withstood losses from things like hurricanes and recessions before, but nothing could have prepared us for this level of loss and cancellation.

We are hopeful that you will understand the difficult position Charleston Stage finds itself. We are dealing with over $356,000 in lost revenue this spring alone, losses incurred literally overnight. Though we have made significant, drastic cuts to our budget to remain viable, we have significant financial obligations still to meet.

We love nothing more than delighting our audiences and educating our 500+ theatre students every year, and we look forward to being able to re-open next season. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your understanding, support, and patience. As Bright Star so beautifully states, "The sun is gonna shine again."

Sincerely,
Charleston Stage Staff, Actors and Crew
