TRE BUTCHER (Eugene Morris Jerome)
Tre is thrilled to be joining Charleston Stage for Season 49 as a 2nd year Resident Actor! Originally from Amarillo, TX, Tre recently graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a B.F.A in Musical Theatre. Previous credits include Avenue Q (Nicky), The Sound of Music (Rolf), Sense and Sensibility (Edward Ferrars), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip). MARYBETH CLARK (Kate Jerome)
Marybeth did her first show with Charleston Stage in 1997. She was in Moon Over Buffalo before she joined the company full time two years later. Her most recent role was Amanda in The Glass Menagerie, also directed by Julian Wiles. Marybeth and her husband Victor met doing theatre in Lewisburg, WV at The Greenbrier Valley Theatre 34 years ago. Though they have done a few shows together, this is the first time they have ever played husband and wife on stage. Hopefully the 32 years of actual marriage will help, but lets hope, in this case, that life does not imitate art. Big thanks to Grandma Duane who holds down the fort at home and our amazing daughters and sons-in-law.
VICTOR CLARK (Jack Jerome)
Victor is thrilled to be back on stage with his wonderful wife of 32 years, Marybeth Clark! Charleston Stage credits include: Candy in Of Mice and Men, Maurice in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Sir Robert De Lesseps/Barman in Shakespeare in Love, Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, Keller in The Miracle Worker, General Henry Waverly in White Christmas, Judge Waties Waring in The Seat of Justice, Old Man in A Christmas Story, Otto Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank, Hank in Inga Binga, Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, Lloyd in Noises Off, 11 different characters in Greater Tuna, Jim in All My Sons and Paul in Born Yesterday. Other favorite roles while in Charleston include: Boolie in Driving Miss Daisy, Dr. Sanderson in Harvey and Bill in On Golden Pond. Victor most recently appeared with Charleston Stage as the Sheriff in The Trip to Bountiful.
MARY ANN DYNE (Blanche Morton)
Mary Ann is delighted to make her Charleston Stage debut in the role of Blanche. She has appeared in numerous productions with Flowertown Players and Cane Bay Players, most recently as Mrs. Boyle in The Mousetrap at the Footlight Players. Favorite roles include Norma in Plaza Suite, Sonia in Life X 3, Olive in The Odd Couple, and Aida in Over the River and Through the Woods. Her theatrical career started behind the scenes working on set construction and dressing in New Jersey for the South Street Players. Neil Simon is one of her favorite playwrights and so she is doubly delighted to be on this stage in this production. Many thanks to Julian, Ashley, Victoria, and the wonderfully talented cast.
JACOB FEIGHT (Stanley Jerome)
Jacob has been with CharlestonStage since his sophomore year of high school when he was in Helium! Some of his favorite roles include Christopher in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Ensemble in A Christmas Carol, Fiddler on the Roof, The Prom, and The Sound of Music. He was last seen in Happyland (KKBE). Jake is very excited to be working with this wonderful cast and would like to thank his Mom and friends for always supporting him and helping him run lines!
DAVID LOAR (Ben Epstein)
David first appeared with Charleston Stage in 2003, playing Gabe in Dinner With Friends. Since then, he has played Robert Figg in The Seat of Justice, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol (twice), Richard Burbage in Shakespeare in Love, Leonard Aster in Peter and the Starcatcher, Prof. Van Helsing in Dracula, Editor Webb in Our Town, Ensemble/Doctor in Bright Star, and Inspector Hubbard in Dial M for Murder. From 2001 to 2008, David was a member of the Blackfriars Resident Troupe of the American Shakespeare Center, playing over 70 roles including Shylock, Prospero, Richard II, Cassius, Claudius, Lord Capulet, and Scrooge. He toured the US for 6 years with Shenandoah Shakespeare, the National Shakespeare Company, and Chamber Repertory Theatre of Boston. He studied acting at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, NY, and the National Shakespeare Conservatory. RYLEE COPPEL (Choreographer)
Rylee is Charleston Stage's Director of Education and Engagement and Artistic Associate. Rylee has a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance from Ramapo College of NJ and a Master's in Integrated Arts and Education from the University of Montana, and over 15 years of experience teaching voice, music, theatre, and dance. In addition to teaching, Rylee has performed regionally and internationally with such companies as; Sesame Street Live, Joey Casella Productions, Roxy Regional Theatre, and RWS and Associates. Charleston Stage credits include; Little Women: The Broadway Musical (Marmee March), Come From Away (Diane), Legally Blonde (Paulette), Beautiful (Genie), Kinky Boots (Pat), Footloose (Vi Moore), Beauty and the Beast (Mrs. Potts), The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time (Judy), Mamma Mia! CALEB S. GARNER (Lighting and Co-Scenic Designer)
Caleb is an award-winning Lighting and Sound Designer based in Charleston. With extensive experience in Off-Broadway, regional, and educational theatre, his designs have earned him eight national and regional awards. A North Carolina native, Caleb holds a B.A. and B.F.A. from Catawba College and an M.F.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is driven by a passion for artistic collaboration and is deeply grateful for the support of his colleagues, friends, and family. Currently, Caleb serves as the Resident Lighting Designer and TheatreWings Coordinator at Charleston Stage Company and is an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the College of Charleston. Bailey is a Costume Designer and Artist based in New Jersey. VICTORIA LEATHERMAN (Costume Designer)
Victoria is so excited to be working on Season 49 with Charleston Stage! Since graduating from the College of Charleston in 2021, she has worked as a freelance stage manager and production manager for several companies up and down the East Coast. A few of her favorite credits include: Come From Away with Charleston Stage, Hair and Marry Me A Little with Weston Theater Company, Arabian Nights with Carolina Ballet Theatre, Spring Awakening and Sweet Charity with Stagedoor Manor, and Death of a Streetcar Named Virginia Woolf, Other Desert Cities and Art with Lean Ensemble Theater.
JOSH MICCIO (Properties Designer)
Josh is delighted to be back at Charleston Stage for the 49th Season. Lauren is a certified teacher of Knight-Thompson Speechwork. She is thrilled to be back at Charleston Stage, where she dialect coached last season’s Come From Away. Selected film credits: Drunk Parents (dialect coach to Salma Hayek); Beijing, New York (dialect coach to Chiling Lin). Selected theater credits: The Scarlet Pimpernel and Jane Eyre (Manhattan Concert Productions/Lincoln Center), JoAnne Akalaitis’s Bad News...i was there (Skirball Center), Come From Away (John Engeman Theater), Let There Be Love (Penguin Rep), Salome (Heartbeat Opera). She has dialect coached several productions at NYU/Steinhardt, including The Secret Garden, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Pirates of Penzance, Brigadoon, and Rags. LUKE WALCHUK (Sound Designer)
Luke has worked in the live sound industry in one form or another since 2004. He gained experience in cruise ship entertainment, amusement parks, live music, and corporate audio before deciding that theatre was the most creatively fulfilling work he could be doing. He went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Sound Design and is especially happy to be here at Charleston Stage.
JULIAN WILES (Director)
Playwright, director, designer and educator, Julian Wiles, founded Charleston Stage in 1978 and led the company for 45 seasons until his retirement in 2023. Under Wiles's leadership, Charleston Stage became one of the region’s largest and most respected performing arts institutions. As Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Wiles designed, directed and produced over 300 productions. He has written 34 original plays and musicals, eight of which are published and produced around the country. Many of his original works such as The Seat of Justice, Gershwin at Folly, and JFK & Inga Binga celebrate the Lowcountry’s rich cultural heritage and history.
Wiles received the National Youth Theatre Director's Award in 1988, Charleston’s NAACP Special Recognition Award in 2004, The South Carolina Governor’s Award for the Arts in 2010 and was inducted into the SC Theatre Association’s Hall of Fame in 2018. In 2021, he was awarded the University of North Carolina’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.
In April 2024, Wiles was inducted as a member of the College of Fellows of the American Theatre. The investiture of new members is under the auspices of the Education Department of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D. C. Membership in the College of Fellows of the American Theatre is one of the highest honors bestowed on educators and professionals of America’s educational and theatre community.
