One of the oldest and largest arts education programs in the region, taught by Charleston Stage's professional Resident Acting Company for students from early childhood through 12th grade.
Charleston Stage's TheatreSchool is led by Rylee Coppel, Director of Education and Engagement. Nine full-time professional actors from our Resident Acting Company teach classes alongside a team of experienced teaching artists. Together, they teach students from early childhood through 12th grade, with acting, voice, and musical theatre classes built for each age and stage.
Students learn the discipline of live performance while developing their own creative voices. Through improvisation, theatre games, character work, and other tools professional actors rely on, they build poise, movement, and public speaking skills. The skills they build onstage, from creative thinking to confident speaking, will serve them in whatever path they choose.
Enrollment is accepted on a rolling basis. All classes are held at the Charleston Stage: West Ashley.
