A Gentleman Caller Arrives
Tennessee Williams' Tony Award-winning timeless American classic, The Glass Menagerie, invites audiences into the fragile world of the Wingfield family. There are glimmering rays of hope for single mother Amanda Wingfield who shares her depression-era apartment with her would be writer son, Tom, and her unmarried daughter Laura. While the challenges of making ends meet hangs over the family, each finds the balm of hope in their dreams and diversions . . . Tom escapes to the movies, his sister Laura finds delight and wonder in her special collection of glass animals, and Amanda lives in the pleasant memories of her past glories as a radiant Southern debutante. When a gentleman caller comes to dinner, the dreary shadows of their day-to-day lives momentarily fade away in the bright shining moments of hope and possibility.
